5 Most Popular Georgia Breweries

Over the last decade, Georgia’s craft beer scene has exploded. In fact, new breweries have been opening up ever since the early 2000’s—with more expected to open in 2020. It’s safe to say craft reigns king here. But who exactly is the king of craft?

Today we dive deep into our data from 2019, where we analyze over 150 million servings of alcohol sold on Provi to on-premise bars and restaurants in the Atlanta metropolitan area. We’ve rounded out the top five most popular breweries in Georgia. Think you know who's on our list? Find out below!

5 Most Popular Georgia Craft Breweries

5. Jekyll Brewing
Jekyll Brewing opened its doors in 2013. As the first brewery in Alpharetta, Georgia, it quickly made its mark, growing to include 26 taps and a 100-barrel brew system. Known for hand-crafting sophisticated brews using only the finest ingredients, Jekyll takes our number 5 spot for most popular breweries in Georgia. By the end of 2019, Jekyll held 6.34% share of the craft beer segment, with one of their brews being in the top-five most popular products!

4. Monday Night Brewing

Monday Night Brewing was founded in 2011 by friends Jonathon Baker, Jeff Heck and Joel Iverson who met in a Bible study group. The whole idea behind Monday Night was derived from the friend’s white collar background. Their motto? “Weekends are overrated.” Today Scofflaw is a full-scale operation, brewing hits such as Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale and Slap Fight. In 2019, the mighty Monday Night craft brewery held a healthy 8.61% share, making the number four spot on our list of most popular Georgia breweries.

3. Scofflaw Brewing Co.

Scofflaw Brewing’s beginnings were humble. So much so, that for two years it was operating out of founder, Matt Shirah’s, mother-in-law’s basement. The Atlanta-based brewery has come a long way since then, releasing a bevy of popular beers. So it’s no surprise it makes the number three spot on our list, holding 13.90% market share in 2019.

2. Creature Comforts Brewing Co.
As a relatively new brewery (founded in 2014), Creature Comforts is quickly earning its reputation as the cool craft kid on the block. Based in Athens, Georgia, Creature Comforts takes inspiration “from those who crave curiosity and share its reward.” No wonder it found itself on our number two spot for most popular brewery in Georgia. By 2019, Create Comforts was sitting pretty, holding 20.28% of craft beer share. Not only that, but it also grew 66% when compared to 2018.

1. SweetWater Brewery
SweetWater Brewery has been servin’ up great beers since 1997. Founded by college buddies, Freddy Bensch and Keven Mcnerney, the craft brewery earned the number one spot for most popular brewery in Georgia. Holding 26.51% share of the beer segment, SweetWater saw an 8% growth from the year prior. Popular products like SweetWater 420 and SweetWater IPA are propelling much of the growth.
